You must have received the information brochure for the 41st Annual Conference of Indian Pharmacological Society 2008. To attract the young pharmacologists, a “National pharmacology quiz” is also being organized at this annual meeting.

This will bring together the budding and talented of pharmacologists from across the country. It’s an opportunity for all to exhibit their creativity, share their vision, and apply their analytical skills in a totally relaxed environment.This will be a quiz with its own unique flavor having exciting questions and rounds for both the participants and enthusiastic audience. The event will initially be conducted at special quiz centers (SQC) across the country. The best teams from these centers will again participate in the pre and final round during the 41st Annual Conference of Indian Pharmacological Society 2008. 

We are looking for volunteers to organize the quiz at their centers (SQC) and nominate a team of 3 members for the final round and nominate a team of 3 members for the final round. There are no boundaries regional or zonal for the nomination of these special quiz centers. Attempt should be to have a minimum of at least eight at each centre. The quiz format will be at the discretion of the center’s quiz master. A quiz centre can be a medical, pharmacy or veterinary college. Those who are interested in volunteering to hold the preliminary round may inform to the coordinating team latest by 31st September 2008. 

SQC can conduct the preliminary round at any convenient date in the month of October 2008. The names of the team can then be sent latest by 15th November 2008.

FAQs related to National Pharmacology Quiz 2008

1 Who can participate?

 Any young scientist, working in the field of human or veterinary pharmacology or pharmacy, less than 35 years of age irrespective of designation. The participants of the pre-final and final round have to be a registered delegate for the conference.

2   How to participate?  

The quiz competition will be conducted in three phases:

Phase I (Preliminary round):  It will be conducted at special quiz centers (SQC) across the country. The list of SQC will be announced in the first week of October.

Phase II (Pre-final round):  The nominated teams from SQC will participate in this pre-final round during the 41st Annual Conference of Indian Pharmacological Society 2008.  The eight best selected teams will then proceed for the final round.

Phase III (Final round): The eight best teams selected through pre final round will participate in this final round. This will also be conducted during the 41st Annual Conference of Indian Pharmacological Society 2008.

3 Where to participate?

Participants for the preliminary rounds can partake in any Special Quiz Centers (SQC) irrespective of the geographical location. The list of SQCs will be announced in the first week of October 2008. 

4 Why to participate?

The winning team will   be awarded certificates of honour, waiver of registration fees, traveling grant and an award. All the participants of the final rounds will be awarded with certificates and other token incentives. In addition, individual Mr. & Ms Pharmacology will also be selected and rewarded.

The contributor of the best five questions will be awarded a certificate of appreciation and a cash prize. The contribution will also be duly acknowledged during the event. The questions will be the judged on the basis of their innovation and creativity rather than level of difficulty.  Multiple entries are allowed but they have to be sent in the sets of five questions. The decision of the Coordinating Committee will be final.
