Stop That Snoring – Naturally and Safely

Stop that snoring naturally. If snoring is not dealt with at an early stage, it will become more frequent and more intense with age. Snoring is not a major problem for most people and most of us snore on occasions. However, overweight people and men are more likely to snore and more frequently.

The major cause of snoring is when the passageway between the nose and throat becomes narrowed. When you are asleep, the muscles in the throat become more relaxed, causing the passageway to narrow.

When the passageway is narrowed and oxygen is inhaled, the air will have to move faster and when it reaches the soft palate tissues forcefully, vibrations are caused which create the snoring noises.

Anything that causes the muscles to relax ie alcohol or drugs will make the air passageway to narrow and the tongue to relax and fall back. This limits the passage of air and encourages snoring. Another cause of snoring is a stuffy nose relating to a cold or blocked sinuses.

Snoring also occurs when the nose is stuffy and it limits the amount of air travelling through the nasal passage, so the throat has to drag air in via the mouth with more force. Snoring can also be caused by being overweight when there are more fatty tissues in the throat making the air passageway narrower. A soft palate will also cause the narrowing of the air passage, which increases the chances of snoring.

Other physical attributes can cause snoring, such as large tonsils or adenoids, a small lower jaw, a long tongue or a deviated nasal septum. Smoking or asthma can also irritate and constrict the air passageways and are therefore both possible causes of snoring.

Sleeping on your back causes gravity to pull the tongue and jaw down to the back of the mouth, thus limiting the air passageway and possibly causing snoring.

Snoring has side effects include fatigue and the inability to concentrate during the day. Doctors are saying that mild snoring may seem harmless, but in time can actually cause more serious health problems including sleep deprivation. Persistent snoring can also lead to cardiovascular health problems, Type II diabetes, metabolic syndrome and hypertension.

Snoring over long periods stops oxygen flow to the body and lack of proper rest as well as disturbing those around you.

Stop that snoring naturally before resorting to more drastic action by alleviating the symptoms causing the snoring and enabling better quality sleep for you and those around you.

Exercise Your Mind to Release Sciatica Nerve Pain

Have you ever suddenly noticed that you are tensing your muscles unnecessarily due to Sciatic nerve pain?

Take a good look around you when you are taking a walk in the park or just sitting on a bench. If you look carefully, some people move their bodies very rigidly, others are more loose and natural in their movements.

Stiff people will tend to get stiffer with age, but why? Just because of the way they move throughout the day. This is their daily exercise routine. If they don't give certain joints and muscles a greater range of movement, the movements they are able to do now will be even more limited in the future. They are straining some muscles almost all the time and leaving others practically unused. They are tense because of stress due to daily problems or pain.

Your mind actually limits your movements long before your body does because of fear. Fear that a certain movement cannot be done because you may experience pain again. But if you learn to think through the process, overcome that fear and believe it can be done, the pain you may feel will be lessened because you won't be tensing your muscles unnecessarily.

Dr Feldenkrais taught many people to use every part of their bodies to the extent that they were designed, relaxing unneeded muscles while others are doing their job. He came up with ways to relax when sleeping so the body feels refreshed on waking up. He taught people to get the most out of life and enjoy their bodily movements, their daily activities and their relaxation.

The whole healing process starts in the minds of the people who are suffering from Sciatica nerve pain. The Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education is more a way of thinking than actual exercises. It shows you that you can do more for yourself than you think to relieve your pain and suffering.

Can Obesity Cause Snoring?

Snoring is a very common problem and happens when the muscles in the tongue and throat are relaxed during sleep. As you breathe in it causes these muscles to vibrate and produces the snoring sound.

There are many types of snoring treatment available some of which are natural and others involve surgery.

Obesity is known to induce snoring. overweight people are also more likely to snore as they have more muscle and tissue around the neck and throat. Some of this extra muscle could hinder the flow of air and so the heavier the person the more prone he or she is to snore loudly.

Thus, to prevent the possibility of snoring at night, you're advised from putting on too much weight. Not only will you escape from major health problems such as coronary diseases, you can also save yourself from disturbing your partner's sleep.

Try and do some exercise each day, you don't have to go down to the gym or do excessive workouts but just 20 minutes walking several times a week can make a big difference to your wellbeing. Over time your muscles will strengthen and your breathing will improve.

You could even consider joining a yoga class or if you enjoy sport take up tennis or golf. You will have more energy and feel more relaxed and ready for sleep at bedtime.

However substances that induce relaxation can also trigger snoring. Don't drink alcohol or take tranquilisers just before going to bed
as not only will they make your breathing slow but also cause you to snore. If the muscles in the throat are to relaxed it can cause them to move about more easily resulting in muscle vibration and snoring.

Don't eat a full meal to late at night as this causes the food to sit in your stomach. As a result you will feel heavy and a pressure on your diaphram. This pressure can cause you to snore.

This can't always be avoided if you are home late from work or a night out, try and have a light snack instead to satisfy your hunger, or if you do have a big meal try and stay up about an hour later to allow the food to digest before going to bed.

Sleeping on your back can make matters worse as gravity helps the toungue muscles to fall back down the throat causing you to snore. Stitching tennis balls on the back of your pyjama top isn't the best snoring treatment as you will probably keep waking up every time you move onto your back resulting in poor sleep.

You will probably also feel pain from the tennis balls digging into your back!!

Instead try elevating your bed by 30 degrees since this height is known to lessen collapse of the tissues in the throat.
