How to Avoid Snoring Surgery

There are a lot of people out there that seem to think that snoring surgery is really the only way to solve this problem. It is true that surgery is a solution, but it isn't necessarily the best. Out of a hundred people that snore, probably one or two people would need to go through surgery to fix the problem. Most people can easily take care of the problem with simple devices that have been proven to work quite well. I know that you probably think that you have the worst snore problems and it's naturally as humans to think the worst, but you're probably just average. I'm going to show you how to avoid snoring surgery and still fix this problem.

Basically the sounds you hear are loose pieces of tissue in your throat that vibrate when you sleep. Surgery is designed to remove the pieces that are large. Most people don't have large tissue and don't need this type of treatment. A small minority of people will have tissue that is far to large for any device to work and need the surgery. For the most part you can easily expand the throat and greatly reduce the vibration of tissue.

If you want to avoid snoring surgery, than you need to get a chin strap. This is a device that holds the jaw up as you sleep. This may not seem like that big of a deal, but this leads to the expansion of the throat. As the throat expands, you won't have tissue vibrating as much and typically the sound will disappear altogether.

Can Obesity Cause Snoring?

Snoring is a very common problem and happens when the muscles in the tongue and throat are relaxed during sleep. As you breathe in it causes these muscles to vibrate and produces the snoring sound.

There are many types of snoring treatment available some of which are natural and others involve surgery.

Obesity is known to induce snoring. overweight people are also more likely to snore as they have more muscle and tissue around the neck and throat. Some of this extra muscle could hinder the flow of air and so the heavier the person the more prone he or she is to snore loudly.

Thus, to prevent the possibility of snoring at night, you're advised from putting on too much weight. Not only will you escape from major health problems such as coronary diseases, you can also save yourself from disturbing your partner's sleep.

Try and do some exercise each day, you don't have to go down to the gym or do excessive workouts but just 20 minutes walking several times a week can make a big difference to your wellbeing. Over time your muscles will strengthen and your breathing will improve.

You could even consider joining a yoga class or if you enjoy sport take up tennis or golf. You will have more energy and feel more relaxed and ready for sleep at bedtime.

However substances that induce relaxation can also trigger snoring. Don't drink alcohol or take tranquilisers just before going to bed
as not only will they make your breathing slow but also cause you to snore. If the muscles in the throat are to relaxed it can cause them to move about more easily resulting in muscle vibration and snoring.

Don't eat a full meal to late at night as this causes the food to sit in your stomach. As a result you will feel heavy and a pressure on your diaphram. This pressure can cause you to snore.

This can't always be avoided if you are home late from work or a night out, try and have a light snack instead to satisfy your hunger, or if you do have a big meal try and stay up about an hour later to allow the food to digest before going to bed.

Sleeping on your back can make matters worse as gravity helps the toungue muscles to fall back down the throat causing you to snore. Stitching tennis balls on the back of your pyjama top isn't the best snoring treatment as you will probably keep waking up every time you move onto your back resulting in poor sleep.

You will probably also feel pain from the tennis balls digging into your back!!

Instead try elevating your bed by 30 degrees since this height is known to lessen collapse of the tissues in the throat.

Stop Snoring Surgery Isn’t Necessary

I wanted to explain to you that getting stop snoring surgery is a completely unnecessary procedure to go through. A lot of people are negative. They assume that their snoring problem is the worst in the world. They assume that they have to go do something drastic to fix this problem. The reality is that you don't have it bad. Only a few people out of a hundred could actually need surgery. Everyone else is in the position to easily fix the problem on their own. That's why I wanted to take the time to explain how getting this type of stop snoring surgery can be completely unnecessary and an expense you don't need.

You have to think about your throat as a tube with air going through it, to really understand what is happening. When you go to sleep, your throat can actually get constricted at certain points. There is a phenomenon in physics that shows that air will actually travel at faster speeds through the constricted areas. It is this speed that leads to much more vibration of loose tissue. A lot of people don't realize that the jaw's position actually leads to the constriction in the throat.

Since you won't be using snoring surgery, you can just use a jaw supporter. It works quite simply. It holds up the jaw as you sleep and prevents it from pushing down on the throat. This keeps the throat tube expanded all through the night and you won't be able to snore. The best part is that the device works the first night that you use it.
